Quntis Light Bar Pro+ review: Great alternative at budget price

If your desk space is as dark as mine is (or was), then a light bar might be just what you're looking for. Still, in the case of options like the BenQ Lightbar Halo, that can get expensive.

Enter Quntis, a company that offers the Light Bar Pro+ at around $70 - a significantly cheaper alternative. Still, you get what you pay for, and is the Quntis Light Bar Pro+ worth the purchase? While not without caveats, it's a great budget option for your desk setup.

If you're looking for a way to light up your desk, you can do a lot worse than the Quntis Light Bar Pro+. It's affordable, looks good, and while it lacks some additional features found on more expensive alternatives, does a great job of making my dark desk look a little less gloomy.

There's never a substitute for natural light, but given my office is buried deep in a converted garage, that's sadly not an option without some remodelling.

Thankfully, the Quntis Light Bar Pro+ has alleviated some stress on my eyes, and while it's not my sole light source, it performs admirably when it comes to illuminating my desk - after all, having a classy desk setup is one thing, but if you can't see it, what's the point?

The Quntis Light Bar Pro+ sits nicely on the top of my main monitor, and while it doesn't look as secure as some alternatives, my sit/stand desk regularly moves up and down without knocking it from its perch.

It's adjustable, too, with a screw for tightening up and a couple of options in the box to help it sit on various monitor sizes and curvatures.

My main gripe with the setup is that the included USB-C cable runs right up to the bar itself. That means it's not possible to position a webcam on top, and while it's a small nitpick, I wish the cable had gone into the counterweight side of things instead so I didn't have to add a webcam on either side of the central bar.

While I'm pleased with the overall lighting, I do wish the Quntis Light Bar Pro+ offered an auto-adjustment option on the remote control.

Instead, there's a central button on top for switching it on and off, as well as the option to rotate the top for adjusting colour temperature or adjusting the 'base' for brightness.

Once it's set how you like it, it's easy to position it out of the way, but given auto adjustment would likely need sensors that may bump the price up, we can see why the option was omitted here.

If you're looking for a way to light up your desk, you can do a lot worse than the Quntis Light Bar Pro+. It's affordable, looks good, and while it lacks some additional features found on more expensive alternatives, does a great job of making my dark desk look a little less gloomy.
